After a lifetime of entertaining family and friends and 15 years of entertaining her clients in her sales and marketing career – Ellen decided to stop joking around and get serious about comedy. She took comedy writing classes at her local comedy club, where she was offered a coveted Thursday Night spot and asked to join the faculty. All of this excitement happened in March of 2020!
Covid closed traditional routes, but it also opened new ones. Ellen spent her covid quarantine homeschooling her two children, taking Comedy Classes at The Second City, and crying her eyes out, wondering if she’d ever get to make people laugh again.
At Second City, Ellen honed her comedy skills and gained a community of fellow comics and writers who helped her hone her voice and find her comedic point of view. Through skits like “Hey, Jesus,” “Kitty Potter,” and “If the Queen Died in the South,” Ellen’s Instagram has exploded and her new book, “Hey Jesus, it’s Me” hits bookstores in Fall 2024.
A native of Mississippi, Ellen lives in Birmingham, Alabama with her husband, 2 kids and 3 dogs. Follow Ellen on Instagram @justskrmetti
