Sheila

Sheila Hawkins was born and raised in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. She’s as southern as RC Cola and Moon Pie. Growing up in the small town of Landrum, she discovered at an early age that one of her main passions was becoming a hairstylist. At 23, Sheila opened up her first hair salon and went on to become one of South Carolinaʼs most successful hair salon owners.  She ultimately owned three successful salons and received multiple styling awards for the state of South Carolina and the Southeast region.  In 1999, she expanded her booming business into a Cosmetology school; The Institute of Cosmetic Arts, which she ran until 2004 when she sold her business to the Kenneth Shuler Schools of Cosmetology.

In 2004, Sheila moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue her other passion,  television production. Since 2004, Sheila has worked in television for companies that include: SokoLobl Entertainment and Madison Road Entertainment, where she produced multiple web series and other creative online content.

In 2010, Sheila became the Director of Development West for EUE/Sokolow, an EUE Screen Gems television company. For the past 12 years, Sheila has developed over 200 television projects and produced numerous shows for the web and for television networks such as: ABC, NBC Universal, CBS, Travel Channel, HBO, HLN and LMN.

In 2012, Sheila helped her longtime friend, Julia Fowler, launch The Southern Women Channel on YouTube.   She is an original cast member in the video series Sh%t Southern Women Say and The Dixie Download.   Sheila is extremely proud to be a southern belle and to be part of the Southern Women Channel team. Sheila loves using her Southern charm and distinct accent to bring joy and laughter to others.  She considers it a true blessing to able to work with such talented Southern women who are also her dear friends.
